Job Description:
Under the general direction of a Business Taxes Administrator I, the Tax Technician III performs a variety of the most complex technical duties relative to the Sales & Use Tax Program return processing, billing, adjusting, and delinquency maintenance functions of the unit. The Tax Technician III works with little day-to-day supervision, reviewing account files, correspondence, and documents and determines action to be taken. Additionally, the Tax Technician III serves as an expert staff resource responsible for the more sensitive and complex work. Applies laws, regulations, policies, and procedures to the return processing, billing, adjusting, and delinquency maintenance workload of the unit. The position is located in a high-rise building. All applicants will be considered; however, SROA/Surplus will be given priority.
Candidates must submit a complete Standard State application (STD 678) and supplemental questionnaire, which must be received by the final filing date.
Supplemental Questionnaire: In addition to the Standard State application (STD 678), a typed response to the following questions must be submitted with your application.
1. Describe a situation in which you assisted a taxpayer. What level of contact did you have with them? What specific actions did you take to assist the taxpayer? What was the end result?
2. Describe your experience in maintaining confidential information. How did you ensure that there was no breach of confidentiality?
3. Describe your experience with Personal Computers and with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access).
