Under the general direction of the Child Nutrition Supervisor II of the Northern Field Services Unit,
the incumbent will be responsible for monitoring and guiding the activities of seven Child Nutrition Consultants
and one Child Nutrition Assistant that conduct federally mandated compliance reviews and provide technical assistance and training to sponsors participating in Child Nutrition Programs in order to improve the quality of nutrition services provided to children in California. The incumbent will be a member of a supportive and dedicated team that works closely together to assure statewide, consistent implementation of program policies and procedures that promote program integrity. The incumbent provides services specifically as follows:
Supervise the activities of the Northern Region consultants conducting compliance reviews, vendor reviews, management and technical reviews, and workshops, as well as review and evaluate reports prepared by staff as a result of the compliance reviews.
Supervise and assist in reviewing nutrition programs to determine sponsor compliance with state and federal regulations.
Collaborate with Field managers and others to establish, educate, evaluate, and continuously streamline staff procedures and other resources to ensure consistency in communication to agencies.
Direct staff in the interpretation of applicable laws and regulations; determine agency and sponsor needs; and provide customer service such as on-site visits, technical assistance, and training seminars.
Must be willing to travel. Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population. Child Nutrition Program knowledge and experience, as well as Registered Dietitians preferred.
