Job Description:
Salary posted is the actual base pay of classification. Actual base pay will be reduced pursuant to the Personal Leave Program (PLP). Fingerprint/Criminal Record Clearance required before hire. Salary Range shown is the minimum and maximum for a full time appointment. Salaries for part-time and/or intermittent appointments may vary. “This position(s) may be subject to allocation approval by the Human Resource Branch.” This is Peace Officer classification, subject to Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) requirements. Plans, organizes, directs, and supervises an investigation unit within an assigned geographical area (district). Evaluates individual performance and workload and suggests adjustments necessary to achieve optimum utilization and unit objectives. Review for quality and accuracy, all unit cases, recommends/initiates appropriate action. Personally directs complex, sensitive and confidential cases; Coordinates with other state/federal/local agencies in mutual interest cases. Dictates/prepares memorandums, reports and other correspondence as required. Assist the Area Commander in monitoring the workload budget; Determines/requests material resources, including furniture, office equipment and special investigative devices. Is responsible for the interviewing, selecting, hiring, and training of district personnel and for their subsequent development and progress. Participates in local programs, including enforcement, intelligence exchange, and instructional panels; appears at speaking engagements within departmental guidelines. Critical skills: program knowledge, knowledge of law enforcement principles, verbal/written communication, training and supervisory skills.
