Job Description:
Implements procedures to analyze and review applications for CDPH accreditation of Lead-Related Construction Training Providers, including applications to provide courses for Workers, Supervisors, Project Monitors, Inspector/Assessors, Continuing Education, and other categories as they are developed. Determines eligibility for accreditation and compliance with regulatory requirements. Evaluates proposed instructors’ and training director’s experience and qualifications to determine if they meet eligibility requirements. Reviews new course’s content to determine compliance with regulatory requirements and effectiveness in the language to be presented. Prepares correspondence to applicants’ on acceptance, denial or necessary modifications of the application. Consults with applicants by telephone on an as-needed basis. Monitors on-going training conducted by CDPH-accredited training providers. Evaluates course notifications and course completion forms for compliance and evidence of fraud. Conducts surveys of course quality by contacting students of training providers. Provides lead-related construction expertise in evaluating model curriculum developed by CDPH for the accredited training providers, and in validating state certification exams. Performs on-site audits of training provider classes and documents. Reviews the audit status for accredited training providers and approved instructors. Proposes and supports audits to ensure compliance with the auditing requirements of Title 17, California Code of Regulations, Division 1, Chapter 8, Section 35078. Maintains an in-depth knowledge of lead-related construction regulations and practices for use during audits. Prepares audit reports for HPM I signature, and evaluates training provider responses to reports. Communicates regulatory and process information to the CDPH-accredited training providers. Solicits topics for and writes primary portions of the bi-monthly Training Provider Information Alert. Coordinates the annual Training Provider Meeting, including developing presentations of the most current lead-related construction information. Assists in other unit functions, including maintenance of the accreditation database, response to tips of suspected violations lead-related construction regulations, and coordination with lead-related construction certification staff to ensure applicants for certification have the appropriate training. Applicants must submit a State Application Form STD 678 with original signature and must indicate the basis of their eligibility. Applications will be screened and only the most qualified candidates will be interviewed.
