The LA Policy Region, Monterey Park location has an opening for an Underwriter in the Underwriting Department. This position is responsible for underwriting, quoting and servicing new and renewal accounts for an assigned book of business, including complex or sensitive accounts in compliance with corporate underwriting and marketing advisories, guidelines and procedures.

•Have a proficient knowledge of State Fund underwriting and marketing advisories, guidelines, and procedures.
•Have proficient knowledge of underwriting principals, practices, and procedures.
•Have the ability to communicate professionally and effectively, verbally and in writing
•Possess the ability to negotiate credibly and persuasively with a variety of “stakeholders”.
•Possess a positive attitude to effectively work with all State Fund Departments and provide excellent customer service.
•Have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team to address and resolve issues.
•Have the ability to evaluate information and analyze data correctly to support and defend decisions and recommendations.
•Have the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.
•Be proficient in State Fund’s policy computer programs including SQE, NewBiz, and State Fund Online (SFO) as well as Microsoft Word and Excel.
