Job Description:

Duties:  Under the direct supervision of the Office Services Supervisor II, the Office Assistant (OA) will serve as the Area’s citation clerk, reviewing and processing all CHP 215 citations, “Notice to Appear,” the CHP 281s, Notice to Correct Violation,” the CHP 267s “Notice of Parking-Registration Violation,” and the CHP 411s, and “Notice of Correction and Proof of Service,” on a daily basis.  Other responsibilities include entering CHP 215 information into the computer’s AIS and MIS programs; and reconciling any inconsistencies with the “MIS Daily Transaction Report.”  The citation clerk is responsible for maintaining an adequate supply of citations to be numbered and logged on the Area’s log prior to distribution to the Area’s officers.  After the citations are processed, the citation clerk is responsible for filing and maintaining files in accordance with the Department’s Retention Schedule.  Other duties will include providing daily back up to the Area’s receptionist duties during breaks and lunch by answering the telephones, transferring calls to Area personnel, and greeting the public at the front counter, post outgoing mail, providing one mail run daily, and other duties as assigned.  The OA will be cross-trained as back-up to the subpoena clerk when time allows. 

Desirable qualifications:  Candidates interested in the position should have the ability to multi-task; have excellent organizational skills, ability to work as a team member with good attendance, punctuality, and dependability, as well as a working knowledge of personal computers and office equipment
