Under the general direction of the Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor or employee acting for them, the incumbent operates equipment identified as Cat 1&2, performing tasks related to highway maintenance work. Operate maintenance, and snow removal equipment including, but not limited to 4-12 yard dump/sand trucks, 3-5 axle water trucks, 1-5 yard loader, motor grader, hoes, & rotary snow plows. Other duties include paving, grading, mowing, ditch cleaning, dig out, signs, fence/guardrail, traffic control, etc.
May be required to work rotating or irregular shifts including weekend, nights and overtime. May be required to work in extreme conditions; including heat up to 120 degrees, cold to –15 degrees, wind, rain, sleet, and snow.
You must be a current state employee with transfer eligibility, be on an eligibility list for the classification, or have re-instatement rights, to be considered for this position.
