There are 2 vacant positions, both positions will be located in Elk Grove, CA. These positions are a full journey level Public Health Biologist (PHB). The incumbent will independently conduct the more difficult and highly specialized epidemiological investigations and disease surveillance in the assigned area; maintain contact with health officers, directors of environmental health programs, and managers of vector control districts; and provide training and related activities in the designated region of responsibility and elsewhere in California as required. Duties include conducting surveillance of vector-borne diseases, including plague, hantavirus, and tick-borne diseases, in a designated region of responsibility and elsewhere in the state as required. Providing consultation, training, and educational materials on vector-borne disease prevention, surveillance, and control to governmental agencies, the medical community, and the general public. Conducting control of vectors associated with actual or potential human cases of a vector-borne disease. Prepare operational and technical reports, and participate in the writing of articles for technical journals. Provide supervisor with program and project work plans, progress reports, and monthly activity reports.
