Job Description:
Under minimal direction of the Supervising Tax Auditor III, incumbent provides high level technical analysis, guidance and advice pertaining to the Sales and Use Tax Department (SUTD) audit and appeals programs. Applicants must possess excellent working knowledge of generally accepted accounting and auditing principles/procedures and business law. Applicants must also have extensive knowledge of applicable sales and use tax laws, regulations, annotations, departmental policies, and administrative remedies of the Board’s administrative appeals process. Applicants must have shown the ability to conduct audits of taxpayer’s accounts; obtain cooperation of persons subject to tax or regulation; analyze data and draw sound conclusions and take appropriate actions; prepare clear and concise reports; plan, organize and direct the work of a team when acting in a lead capacity. Candidates must also have a demonstrated history of the ability to effectively perform all work duties in an environment where time was constrained and assignments/priorities were subject to redirection. Ideal candidates must have the willingness and aptitude to work in an entirely digital (paperless) environment; contribute and adapt to forthcoming Board of Equalization legacy computer system enhancements; be capable of participating as a business process expert for the unit during the development of such system enhancement projects. Candidates should have the ability to create, update, maintain and prepare all types and forms or reports to effectively communicate complex data/analysis. The position requires extensive oral and written communication of a highly technical nature on a daily basis. It is imperative that candidates possess the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. It is anticipated that the selection process will entail significant demonstration of oral and written communication capabilities.
All applicants will be considered however, SROA/Surplus will be given priority. The position is located in a high-rise building.
