Under the supervision of the Program Assistant in Central Program Services, design, manufacture, adapt and modify supportive equipment for wheelchairs and other assistive and positioning devices including communication aids and custom feeding equipment. Instruct Assistive Technology Trainees and Student Assistants in related workshop activities. Incorporates changes that provide physical support for individuals utilizing power-drive and manual wheelchairs. Receives and fills orders for various types of positioning devices, custom seating systems and protective headgear. Consults with physical and occupational therapists, medical staff, parents and other members of the interdisciplinary team regarding adjustment or improvement of wheelchairs or adaptive equipment.
