Job Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION :
Under the general direction of the Assistant Manager, Personnel Management Unit, the incumbent provides quality customer service while independently performing the more difficult and technical work of the the department’s Classification and Pay program. Provides technical advice and assistance to managers on sensitive staffing matters; consults with control agencies and other departments with similar staffing needs and recommends appropriate action. Staffing matters include classification and allocation reviews and working with management regarding their needs; coordinates selection issues with Exams as needed. Conducts classification studies and audits; prepares management reports and issue papers. Liaison with CalHR, SPB and SCO within areas of responsibility. We are looking for an energetic individual and great team player to join the Personnel Management Unit! Additionally, an alternate work schedule (i.e., 9/8/80) may be considered for this position.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills; ability to prepare clear, well-written and well organized documents.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of and interaction with various personnel related fields.
  • Be a self-starter and possess the ability to work in a team environment.
