This is a Limited Term Intermittent position and may work at a maximum of 1500 hours per calendar year.
Three positions are available.
Under the supervision of the Budgets Manager (SSM II), the Staff Services Analyst (SSA) will assist in the development and preparation of the Air Resources Board’s (ARB) annual support and local assistance budgets and monitor their progress through internal, control agency, and legislative review processes. This position will provide assistance to ARB’s Divisions and Offices to facilitate timely and accurate budget development. The SSA will analyze budget proposals and make recommendations to the Divisions and Offices to assist them in making appropriate decisions toward ARB’s goals and objectives.
The SSA will assist in the administration, maintenance, revision, and control of an assigned portion of ARB’s budget during the operation year. This position will assist in the development of detailed information for inclusion in ARB’s Monthly Management Report. The SSA will monitor expenditures to ensure adequate budgetary information, including review, analysis, and making recommendations concerning program scope, proper fiscal evaluation and recommendations for approval of financial documents, including Transfer Budget Allotments, Contracts, Purchasing Orders, and other appropriate documents.
The SSA will analyze and provide recommendations on fiscal problems of average complexity as assigned to the Budget Office, including reviewing and monitoring budgetary procedures on a continuous basis to determine their adequacy in accomplishing the policies, standards and objectives as set for the Budget Manager.

Knowledge of budget office functions. Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills, ability to work both independently and as part of a team; ability to maintain a positive, creative and flexible attitude in a customer friendly atmosphere. Experience with Excel and Word software applications.
