Under the direction and supervision of the Network Operations Manager, a Staff Information Systems Analyst (Supervisor), the incumbent is responsible for analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, maintenance and support of information technology systems with a concentration in Local Area Network, Wide Area Network, and Telecommunications infrastructure equipment. The incumbent provides technical support to computer users throughout the District for problems associated with network connectivity, data recovery, and network printing that support Caltrans mission-critical projects by various departments. The incumbent will have frequent contact with managers and staff in all functional areas of Caltrans and it will require a commitment to providing a high level of customer service.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: The incumbent will perform or assist in the duties associated with administering, maintaining, and optimizing existing Caltrans LAN file servers. These tasks include the administration of multiple servers, support of multiple Cisco communication devices, configuring and defining system interfaces using TCP/IP addresses, and administering Active Directory Services. The incumbent will perform or assist in the duties associated with administering, maintaining, and optimizing EMC drive arrays, VMware server management, and Symantec Backup systems and uninterruptible power distribution systems to achieve optimum performance on a given hardware platform. The incumbent will perform the duties associated with procurement, provide research and support in developing purchasing packages, documentation filing system, maintain inventory database system, and will work closely with other IT personnel, IT Certification Unit, DPAC and vendors.
