Job Description:
Under the general supervision of a Business Taxes Administrator I, the Tax Compliance Specialist independently performs the more complex and difficult tax compliance and collection work and is responsible for analyzing consumer use tax and closed out corporate collection accounts to determine if the corporate officers or responsible parties can be held liable, effecting collections, and for recommending for discharge those accounts that are uncollectable. The incumbent, while working autonomously, informs the supervisor of complex and/or sensitive issues on assigned cases and acts as the lead person in cases leading to criminal prosecution on fraudulent and illegal operations. The incumbent acts as an expert resource to journey level staff with responsibility under the various sales and use tax programs and provides administrative support to management and supervision. Candidate must be able to perform the following essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to travel may include overnight. Meeting the training requirements for this position may require overnight travel for up to five consecutive nights. The position requires the incumbent to be fingerprinted. The position is located in a high-rise building. All applicants will be considered; however, SROA/Surplus will be given priority.
