DUTIES: Under general direction of the Education Administrator I in the Assessment, Evaluation, and Support Unit, and the Associate Director and Director of the Special Education Division, and working cooperatively with program units and supervisors throughout the Department, the Research Analyst II (General) will conduct special education data collection and analysis activities as mandated by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the California Department of Education (CDE).
Analyze large datasets using appropriate descriptive and inferential statistical techniques; use statistical software (SAS), and other computer software, including, but not limited to, Microsoft ACCESS and EXCEL
Provide direct support to the CDE staff, local educational agencies (LEAs) and Special Education Local Plan Areas (SELPAs) around data collection, data reporting, and data submission, to include writing technical assistance manuals.
Design and produce effective displays of information in response to program issues and directives from Division staff.
Strong analytical skills
Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Ability to use statistical software: SAS, EXCEL, and ACCESS
