Job Description:
DUTIES:
The Aftermarket Parts Section is responsible for evaluating add-on and modified parts, and alternative fuel retrofit systems to determine their impact on vehicle/engine emissions.
Under supervision of the section manager, engineers in the section evaluate designs and test data of aftermarket parts and retrofit systems. The candidate chosen will perform engineering evaluations to determine the effect of modified and/or add-on parts on emissions, analyze vehicle/engine emission data, prepare reports and other technical documentation for approval, develop pertinent engineering test procedures for emission compliance and prepare necessary correspondences and guidelines to applicants. Evaluation of parts may also involve review of manufacturer durability test plans, on-board diagnostics II (OBD II) compliance, and impact of part control strategies on auxiliary emission control devices.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidates should possess an engineering degree, and general knowledge of engineering principles of motor vehicles/engines, fuels and emission control systems and a basic knowledge of exhaust and evaporative emission test procedures. Applicants should possess good communication and people skills, experience in preparing technical documents, good personal computer skills, and ability to effectively interact with manufacturers, test laboratories and the general public. Knowledge of Access and/or MYSQL is a plus.
