DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
The Pest Control Technician for the Department of Developmental Services, Sonoma Developmental Center, reports directly to the Chief of Plant Operations I or Building Trades Supervisor. The Pest Control Technician is responsible for establishing and maintaining a continuing program of preventive pest control. The incumbent eliminates pests through the use of various chemicals and procedures as necessary to perform the job. The incumbent orders and maintains equipment and supplies; trains personnel in the methods of preventing pest infestation; cooperates with public health personnel in their inspections; and takes necessary steps to comply with their recommendations.
The Pest Control Technician is responsible for inspecting all areas of buildings and grounds to determine the presence of vertebrate and invertebrate pests. The incumbent performs pest control duties in and around buildings located throughout facility grounds, sets rodent traps, operates a pump sprayer and other equipment to perform the functions required for the position, enters basement areas, mechanical rooms and crawl spaces.
The Pest Control Technician is also responsible for maintaining records of inspections, infestations and remedial actions taken. Other assigned duties may be included on the employee’s signed duty statement prior to appointment into the position. Typical physical demands require manual dexterity, the ability to bend, stoop, reach above shoulder level, crawl, drive a pickup truck and other vehicles as required.

NOTE: The salary indicated does not reflect the 4.62% salary reduction pursuant to the Governor's Personal Leave Program.
