JOB DESCRIPTION :
Under the general direction of the Administrator I, the Accounting Officer (Specialist) independently perfoms professional accounting work in maintaining the cash receipts accounting records and determining the disposition of receipts to appropriate funds, including Personal Income Tax, Corporation Tax, the General Fund, DMV, and COD. Responsible for maintaining the accounting records of the Voluntary Contribution Funds and preparing the year-end financial statements.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

WHO MAY APPLY :
- Knowledge of FTB’s cash receipts processes
- Knowledge of Uniform Accounting Principles, procedures and financial record keeping
- Ability to apply General Accounting Principles
- California State Fund Accounting knowledge
- CALSTARS experience
- Automated accounting systems and PC software experience
- Ability to use Microsoft Office tools to develop and maintain documents, spreadsheets and databases
- Excellent attendance, organization and strong communication skills (written and oral)
- Ability to follow prescribed procedures, complete tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
- Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
- Flexible and willing to learn in an environment of change
Current state employees with status in the above classification or lateral transfers from an equivalent class, former state employees who can reinstate into this class or persons who are reachable on a current employment list for this classification. A training and development assignment (T & D) will also be considered. All appointments are subject to SROA/Surplus hiring provisions.
