Job Description:
The Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) is accepting applications to fill an Office Technician Typing (OT) position in the Division of Banking located in Los Angeles.

DFI is considered one of the premier State departments offering programs and opportunities which focus on and support employees.

Position Description: Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Commissioner.

Duties: The OT is responsible for providing clerical support and performing a variety of support tasks for the Los Angeles examination staff using a high degree of initiative and independence. The incumbent is responsible for the neat and organized maintenance of the file room and is responsible for general filing duties. The OT is also responsible for ensuring that the records retention schedule is appropriately followed. The incumbent must exercise good judgment in disseminating information of highly confidential and sensitive matters.

With minimal supervision the OT proofreads, corrects, formats, photocopies, assembles, and distributes sensitive material including examination reports, letter correspondence, and memoranda to the Department’s licensees, other governmental agencies, and Departmental personnel. The incumbent answers telephone calls from licensees, other governmental agencies, and the general public and assists with the operations of various office machines, follow verbal and written directions, evaluate situations accurately and take effective action and apply specific office policies and procedures as needed. The OT performs information uploads and downloads via computer internet connection to and from various information repositories. The incumbent performs mail distribution and pick-up to appropriate staff members and prepares outgoing pouches for shipment to other Department offices.

Appointment is subject to SROA and State surplus policies.
