Please indicate PARF #02-3-130 on your application. This Tree Crew position is stationed out of Redding with extensive travel required (including overnight) throughout District 2.
Working under the supervision of a Caltrans Tree Maintenance Supervisor, duties will include but not be limited to: climbing trees by means of ropes/spurs; using safety belt and other required rigging; trimming/removing limbs and branches; treating cut surfaces to protect from fungi/insects; cutting brush/weeds; maintaining/caring for tree climbing/trimming equipment; performing traffic control; and using aerial equipment and pneumatic/hydraulic tools.
May work w/roadside spray crew and could also be assigned to any other support region function for short duration performing various duties. May operate snow removal equipment and direct traffic at chain control points.
Required to work in wide range of conditions including extreme heat/cold, wind, rain, sleet and snow. May be required to work overtime, including weekends/holidays due to storms, emergencies, or special projects.
Valid Class C drivers license is required; Class A or B with Tank endorsement is desirable.
Standard State application (STD 678) is required. SROA/Surplus applicants must provide a copy of the notice. Applications subject to screening – interviews may be held. Pending personnel approval.
PLEASE NOTE: Possession of minimum qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the minimum qualifications, the application will be forwarded to the State Personnel Board for review and the applicant's name may be removed from the eligibility list.
