Job Description:
All applicants will be considered however, SROA/Surplus will be given priority. Under general supervision, the Tax Technician II is responsible for the more complex, technical duties. This includes, but is not limited to, issuing permits to new businesses by mail and in person; handling the full range of account maintenance duties, working delinquencies; conducting taxpayer interviews, which may involve complicated situations; utilize basic explorative questioning, issuing use tax exemption certificates and rotational reception duties. Under close supervision, the Tax Technician I performs the less difficult and complex technical work, responsible for basic compliance and support functions. This includes, but is not limited to, applying laws, rules and policies relating to the Board of Equalization programs; performing account maintenance duties, including the filing and pulling of taxpayer records and account files; accessing taxpayer information via a video terminal and/or modifying account information as necessary; processing of the incoming and outgoing mail, which may include money payments and handling of sensitive and confidential material. Both positions to perform other job related duties as necessary; must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
