Job Description:
Under close supervision for the first three to six months, the incumbent conducts field audits of the least to moderately difficult accounts; attends basic tax law and audit training classes; makes audit appointments; meets with taxpayers and their representatives; explains the audit findings; and prepares appropriate audit reports. After the initial training period, incumbent attends additional classes and efficiently performs audit duties under general supervision. Ability to travel may include overnight. This position is designated as Mobile Worker per Board of Equalization Telework Policy and Guidelines. Meeting the training requirements for this position may require overnight travel for up to five consecutive nights. The Tax Auditor starting salary receives a Hiring-Above-Minimum (HAM) total salary rate of $3262, Range A only. All applicants will be considered however, SROA/Surplus will be given priority. Interested candidates must meet educational requirements. The position requires the incumbent to be fingerprinted.
