Job Description:

The Bakersfield Communications Center is on a 3/12 alternate work week, with quarterly seniority sign-up.

Duties:  The Public Safety Dispatcher (PSD) regularly performs a variety of duties.  These duties include operating a radio console, automated systems and computer aided dispatch; dispatching appropriate personnel and resources; answering both emergency and non-emergency calls from officers, public, media, and allied agencies; processing reports and records; and sitting/standing for prolonged periods of time.

Desirable Qualifications:  The position requires a motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills, the willingness and ability to provide essential services to the public, and possess the ability to maintain composure under stressful situations.

Who may apply:  Persons currently in the PSD classification who are eligible to transfer, should submit a CHP 220, Request for Transfer, to the contact person below.  The most senior same-class transfer who responds by the final filing date shall be selected. 

Persons eligible to apply must be on a certification list, eligible to transfer, voluntarily demote, reinstate, or be on an SROA list or designated Surplus.  All applicants will be considered; only the most qualified will be interviewed.
