Job Description:
Under the general direction of the Audit Program Analysis Section Supervisor (STA III), the Business Taxes Specialist I (BTS I) is responsible for independently completing the most complex or sensitive assignments as requested by the section supervisor and Sales and Use Tax Department management. The BTS I evaluates the audit program for effectiveness and efficiency through the use of audit statistics (metrics) and other program and industry-specific information, and may also be involved in performing onsite evaluations. The BTS I consults with the Legal Department to resolve complex and unique legal issues pertaining to the audit program; prepares reports with recommendations and alternatives for solutions to audit problems; reviews section 6596 and relief of interest requests; analyzes Decisions & Recommendations and Requests for Reconsideration; and develops memoranda pertaining to uniform audit review policies and procedures. All applicants will be considered however, SROA/Surplus will be given priority. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time. The position is located in a high-rise building. More than one position available.
