The Assistant Information Systems Analyst, Specialist (AstISA) is responsible for providing first-level Information Technology (IT) support to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). This includes overall installation, maintenance, and administration of information technology resources in support of a centralized IT environment, working for the Client Services Unit (CSU), Customer Service Section (CSS) within the Data Center Operations Services Branch (DCOSB), for CDPH. The AstISA serves as a first-level general personal computer technical support specialist supporting all CDPH employees, which may include both state and contract staff. The incumbent is responsible for diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues. The incumbent is responsible for independently prioritizing work and resolving hardware/software and connectivity issues and elevating issues to higher level support staff. The incumbent will assist in the support for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of all IT hardware, software, and peripherals. The incumbent must adhere to state information technology standards and policies at both the Department and state level.
This job requires excellent customer service, effective communications, technical support, time management, and problem solving skills. The incumbent works with managers, technical staff, and systems users to properly analyze and recommend/provide effective technical solutions to problems and issues. The AstISA must be familiar with generally accepted information technology concepts, methods, and principles. The AstISA should have a working knowledge of desktop and laptop computers, peripherals, Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Office products and Microsoft Active Directory. This person is expected to resolve a wide array of hardware and software issues and incidents. A good understanding of information security principles, standards, and procedures for system and data backup and recovery is also required. It is the responsibility of the incumbent to ensure that network hardware and software are used and maintained in compliance with the established policy and IT hardware and software standards of CDPH. Ability to interface and work well with LAN administrators within the Department and Division is a must. THIS POSITION IS PENDING PERSONNEL APPROVAL.
