This is a Limited Term position and may work at a maximum of 1500 hours per calendar year.
Position may be filled in either El Monte or Sacramento
A position is available in the Carl Moyer Program. The Carl Moyer Program is a large incentive program that obtains emission benefits by paying the incremental cost of cleaner-than-required engines and equipment. Section activities may include developing guidelines and policy recommendations for a variety of sources that range from light-duty vehicle scrap, to locomotives and marine vessels, to new innovative areas, as well as liaison duties with local air districts. The potential candidate serves as a paraprofessional, under close supervision of management and coordinates with all members of Carl Moyer Program staff, local Air District personnel, and ARB regulatory and enforcement staff to assist in program implementation. Duties include responding to Moyer helpline inquiries, maintaining and developing the program tracking system, analyzing incentive-funded project data using spreadsheets, databases, and other technical tools. Limited travel may be required.
The ideal candidate will be able to perform the duties describe above; be a team player with good communication skills; be able to analyze situations accurately then identify an effective course of action; can understand technical issues pertaining to engine technologies and critically evaluate data. Demonstrating enthusiasm and initiative while working effectively with other staff and stakeholders is important. Familiarity with Moyer on-road eligibility criteria and the Clean Air Reporting Log as well as knowledge of database development and maintenance is also a plus.

Current state employees who are in the Air Resources Technician II classification, are list eligible, or have transfer eligibility. Qualified Air Resources Technician Is are also encouraged to apply. Applicants will be screened and only the most qualified candidates will be interviewed. Appointments may be subject to SROA/Surplus restrictions.
