This position is with the Policy Development Branch within the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Division. Under the administrative direction of the Chief, Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health (MCAH) Division, the incumbent is responsible for the oversight, management, and operation of MCAH programs within the Policy Development (PD) Branch and for participation in the development and implementation of new and on-going programs within the MCAH Division. The incumbent provides leadership and guidance to staff for the development and implementation of policies and for the monitoring and evaluation of programs to ensure compliance with established requirements. The Public Health Medical Officer (PHMO) III supervises and directs the work of PD Branch staff and provides consultation and technical assistance to other MCAH State and local staff, Federal, State, and local agencies. Minimum Requirements include: Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance or the California Board of Osteopathic Examiners and Possession of a valid certificate issued either by the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Surgery, the American Board of Pathology, the American Board of Pediatrics, the American Board of Anesthesiology, the American Board of Radiology, the American Board of Family Practice, the American Board of Preventive Medicine and Public Health, the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine, the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery, the American Osteopathic Board of Pathology, the American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics, the American Osteopathic Board of Anesthesiology, the American Osteopathic Board of Radiology, the American Osteopathic Board of General Practice, or the American Osteopathic Board of Preventive Medicine, or current eligibility for examination for one of those certificates as evidenced by a written statement from the Secretary of the Board. Preferred Requirements include: Certified by the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, or American Board of Emergency Medicine.
