Job Description:
DUTIES:
This is a Limited Term Intermittent position and may work at a maximum of 1500 hours per calendar year.
The In-Use Control Measures Section, within the Heavy-Duty Diesel Implementation Branch is seeking highly motivated people to join a team responsible for implementing the Truck and Bus regulation, the Public Agency and Utility regulation, the Transit Fleet regulation, and the Solid Waste Collection Vehicle regulation. The Implementation of these regulations is intended to achieve an 85% emissions reduction of diesel particulate matter, oxides of nitrogen, and other criteria pollutants from about one million in-use diesel trucks and buses that operate in California.
Duties include: Assisting professional staff with providing compliance assistance to fleet owners, problem resolution, and management of reported fleet information. Updating the calls database, assisting at public workshops and with the development of methods for processing reporting (online and hard copy), processing data reported, editing the reporting system as needed, providing support for engineering analyses, and updating web pages. Supporting staff and management by assisting with the drafting and editing of correspondence, preparing forms and outreach materials required for regulatory implementation, and updating the assignment database to reflect current status. Attending meetings and training to ensure a clear understanding of regulatory interpretation, policy, and appropriateness of exemption requests.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
The most competitive candidates will have: Strong written and verbal communication skills; database experience, knowledge of or experience with diesel vehicle operation; the ability to work independently; and the ability to work effectively with the public. The position may require occasional travel.
