Job Description:
DUTIES:
The incumbent will draft news releases, media advisories, correspondence, fact sheets on Air Resources Board (ARB) programs, brochures, talking points, newsletter articles and other written materials with a focus on consumer products and fuel specification regulations, environmental justice programs, and State and Federal clean-air plans.
The incumbent will respond to news media inquiries, arrange for interviews with radio and other media, and prepare briefing materials for ARB and CalEPA executives, and the Governor's Office, pertaining to major program areas that may be highly sensitive in nature. The incumbent will prepare and coordinate media and outreach plans within areas of expertise and works with key management and staff to roll out these plans effectively.
The incumbent will also be responsible for preparing talking points and coaching key managers and staff for news media interviews and represents the ARB at conferences, trade shows, intergovernmental meetings and other public events.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; hands-on experience as a spokesperson and public outreach representative; have the ability to formulate a communications and outreach plan; have a team player attitude; be flexible, consistent, organized, reliable and able to prioritize work assignments; and adept at working with people at all organization levels. The most competitive candidates will be able to speak, read and write Spanish fluently.
