With general direction provided by a the Chief Deputy Inspector
General, the Senior Assistant Inspector General, will have full administrative
and managerial responsibility for the supervision of Special Assistant
Inspectors General and other subordinate staff in their region.The incumbent will review and oversee the
monitoring and reporting on sensitive, complex and controversial, or other high
level investigations involving allegations of misconduct, and critical
incidents that occur within the California Department of Corrections and
Rehabilitation (CDCR).The incumbent will supervise the monitoring
of the involved State entities, including the Employee Advocacy Prosecution
Team, (EAPT), the Regional Office of Internal
Affairs, (OIA), and other CDCR
employees, to ensure the appropriateness of policies, practices and
disciplinary decisions within the CDCR.The incumbent shall oversee all day to day
operations of the regional Office of the Inspector General (OIG).
The incumbent will frequently travel to prisons, regional offices and
headquarters in Sacramento.

SELECTION CRITERIA: All candidates must have active
California State Bar License. The Senior Assistant Inspector General is an
attorney level classification. This position is subject to a background
investigation, which includes fingerprinting.
