Under the direction of a Caltrans Mtce. Supervisor or a Caltrans Mtce. Leadworker, incumbent will operate and service all types of hwy mtce equipment, as well as equipment used in structure mtce, emergency service, snow removal, landscape mtce including but not limited to cargo trucks, dump trucks, spray rigs, forklifts, loaders, tractors and trash compactor trucks. In addition, incumbent will perform miscellaneous work including but not limited to hand patching of pavement, shoveling material, loading material on trucks by hand, replacing damaged sign post, weed control, litter removal, graffiti removal, traffic control/flagging, setting up lane closures, operating power tools such as weed eaters, chain saws, and will also include installation and mtce of traffic control and safety devices including guide posts, raised reflectors, signs and guardrail. Incumbent may be assigned to landscape mtce activities up to 25% of the time. May perform a variety of activities in support of the Department's Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program. Position does not normally supervise, but may act as lead for two/three per crew for short periods.
