Under the general direction of the Office of Information Services, Server, Network & Software Services Section Chief, Data Processing Manager III (DPM III) and the Senior Information Systems Analyst (Supervisor), incumbent performs a variety of tasks to support the departments Oracle environment. Tasks performed will include integration tasks between legacy systems, Oracle application servers and Oracle database servers.
DUTIES: As part of the DCA team, the incumbent is responsible for analyzing systems to optimize performance; communicating the progress, status, and accomplishments of the staff. Work independently or as a project lead. Monitor all production and development databases and their associated processes to ensure proper operation, respective client availability, and that systems meet established policy and procedure guidelines. Troubleshoot, research, and solve highly complex database and system problems. Perform database administration functions which include new database related software installation, database tuning, capacity planning, database and system patch application, utilities and script writing, and development of security analysis and design methodologies for data access, including mainframe, client server and Internet/Intranet. Design data integration methodologies for cross platform data access. Analyze, define, and maintain the overall integrity of the Department’s Oracle databases including standard data definitions, data dictionary, recovery systems and support software. Monitor the utilization of the Oracle databases and Oracle Web Application Servers by using existing and new applications, identify changes in work patterns and evaluate alternative design strategies to maintain or improve overall performance.
Note: The incumbent may be required to permanently work swing shift and/or be placed on stand by/call back status.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The incumbent should possess excellent customer service skills and experience with database administration. In addition, the incumbent should have exemplary analytical and communication skills (written and verbal). The incumbent should also have knowledge of the DCA strategic plan and its impact on both the DCA and the DCA client agencies.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:: The incumbent should be customer service oriented, positive, motivated, friendly, and a quick learner. Thorough knowledge of the basic operational functions of the client Boards and Bureaus: i.e. license issuance, complaint handling and enforcement activities is strongly desired.
