Job Description:
Pending DSH – Human Resources and CalHR approval.

The Department of State Hospitals (DSH) – Stockton will be located within the California Health Care Facility (CHCF) currently being constructed and located at Austin and Arch Road, one mile east of Highway 99. The facility will have 1,722 medical and mental health beds. The DSH – Stockton will have 514 beds: 432 Intermediate and 82 Acute in 9 buildings with 17 treatment units. The CHCF, including the DSH – Stockton beds, will be licensed as a Correctional Treatment Center, Title 22, Division 5, Chapter 12. The DSH – Stockton will be accredited by the Joint Commission as a Behavioral Healthcare service. Admissions are scheduled to begin on July 22, 2013 and reach full census by December 31, 2013. DSH – Stockton will have over 800 clinical and administrative positions.

The California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS), California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and Department of State Hospitals have partnered in a unique relationship to re-define the delivery of health care services in the correctional setting. The CHCF will provide the DSH – Stockton the ability to deliver clinical excellence in the care and treatment of mentally ill patients in an environment designed for the provision of health care while maintaining a safe and secure workplace for patients and staff. Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Program Director has the overall responsibility for the management of the Performance Improvement Program (PIP) and other clinical staff in the assurance of patient care and treatment. The Program Director directs the activities of staff to achieve program goals for facility-wide performance improvement and compliance with Joint Commission standards. The Program Director must have the requisite knowledge in order to establish and maintain open communication within the parameters of the Interagency Agreements between the Department of State Hospitals and the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The Program Director is responsible for safety of staff, patients, and visitors in the treatment areas.

Regular and consistent attendance is critical to the successful performance of this position due to the heavy workload and time sensitive nature of the work. The incumbent routinely works with and is exposed to sensitive and confidential issues and/or materials and is expected to maintain confidentiality at all times.

Pre-employment physical, including TB test, Live Scan, and Supplemental Application clearance may be required prior to appointment.
