The database administrator will be responsible for administering and supporting FTB's Mainframe DB2-z/OS Database Management Systems and work closely with business/application areas and other system supports. Typical job duties include (1) database administration tasks in support of development and production systems (2) technical support in installation and configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting of database and related software (3) resolution of problems resulting from database or applications (4) technical consultation with development staff and management (5) customer support for database requests.

  • Minimum of two years of experience in DB2 Database Administration.
  • Experience in installation and configuration of DB2 on z/OS.
  • Experience with mainframe SMP/E software installation tool.
  • Knowledge of information technology systems software in order to install, maintain, secure, and support software, apply patches and fixes and resolve problems.
  • Ability to identify and resolve the most complex computer software/hardware problems.
  • Handle multiple priorities, self motivated, enthusiastic, and responsible.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, interacts well with others.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with all levels in the organization.

Current state employees with status in the above classification or lateral transfers from an equivalent class, former state employees who can reinstate into this class or persons who are reachable on a current employment list for this classification. A training and development assignment (T & D) will also be considered. All appointments are subject to SROA/Surplus hiring provisions.
