Under the direction of the Supervising Registered Nurse II, the Licensed Vocational Nurse, CDCR will provide direct patient care to inmates/patients collaborating with the Registered Nurses and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Must possess a valid, active license from the State of California to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. This position may be assigned to the Infirmary, inmate clinics, specialty clinics or other medical areas. A detailed duty statement is available on request.
**Starting salary (Bay Area institutions*):
$4,457.00
* Bay Area institutions – Correctional Training Facility, Salinas Valley State Prison, and California State Prison, San Quentin
Retention Bonuses:
$1,500.00 (one-time payment) - Upon completion of one (1) qualifying pay period.
$1,500.00 (one-time payment) - Upon completion of six (6) consecutive qualifying pay periods.
$1,000.00 (one-time payment) - Upon completion of 18 consecutive qualifying pay periods.
New civil service employees (individuals hired from outside State service) appointed on or after 01-01-03 to this classification and employed at any correctional institution, performing satisfactorily, shall be eligible to receive the appropriate recruitment differential upon completion of the specific qualifying and consecutive qualifying pay period(s).
* Through June 30, 2013, full-time employees’ monthly pay will be reduced by 4.62% in exchange for eight (8) hours of leave.
Part- time employees shall be subject to the pay reduction on a pro-rated basis consistent with their time base. The salary listed above does not reflect this reduction.

Requirements (Minimum Qualifications):
Possession of a current license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in California.
