Job Description:

Duties include: 

Analyzes and prepares monthly accounts receivable billings for the Department’s maintenance and construction program with the Department of Transportation.  Reconciles billing data received from field commands to the Department of Transportation’s data.  Researches, corrects, and submits entries to CalStars.  Analyzes various reimbursable contracts; monitors contract balances; researches and resolves the more complex billing problems; performs follow-up with the applicable field or headquarters command regarding contract information; and prepares monthly direct transfer invoices for the Safety Services Program.  Prepares quarterly and monthly invoices for the Department’s vehicle theft and narcotic task force program.  Prepares claims for discharge from accountability; prepares correspondence to commands, attorneys, and clients regarding invoice disputes.  Reconciles CalStars uncleared collections report to source documentation.  Develops, updates, and maintains written procedures for the accounts receivable functions.  Prepares year end accrual entries for inclusion in the financial statements.  Acts as lead person and reviews and directs the work of others in the absence of the senior accounting officer, supervisor.   

Desirable qualification include: 

Good organizational skills, knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, strong personal computer knowledge, and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
