Under the general direction of the Classification and Pay Manager, the incumbent is responsible for the full range of personnel analysis duties for assigned divisions. Reviews and approves hiring packages; makes recommendations to managers and supervisors on a wide variety of Human Resources issues; researches personnel laws and rules and makes recommendations applying good personnel management practices; works closely with assigned transactions staff; may review and edit departmental policies and write adverse actions; works closely with in-house counsel in regards to personnel issues; may consult with the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) on a wide variety of issues needing control agency approval or review.
Knowledge and/or experience in the State's personnel related programs that include, classification and pay, progressive discipline, reasonable accommodations, position control, worker's compensation, departmental policies and procedures, and a clear understanding of personnel transactions, etc;
Excellent customer service skills;
Strong writing skills and ability to communicate with all levels of staff;
Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize workload, as well as work under pressure to meet deadlines; and
Bring a team spirit and also the ability to work independently.
