This position is located at Wasco State Prison.
CSCCS/WSP: Under the supervision of the Senior Information Systems Analyst (Sup), but also receives direction from the Staff Information Systems Analyst (SISA) or Associate Information Systems Analyst (AISA), the Information Systems Technician (IST) conducts on-the-job training for system users, provides resolutions to system user problems. Assists in the development of procedural instructions for specified electronic information processing systems, and assists in the formal, structured training of users in the application of these systems. IST assists the SISA and AISA in the development of more efficient and effective methods for processing information technology workload. This position stays in close communication with the first-line systems users, and resolves the less complex user problems regarding the application of basic computer programs.
Knowledge: This is the IST level and the incumbents at this level are expected to be familiar with generally accepted information technology concepts, practices, methods, and principles. Because of the organization’s complex environment and diverse user population, the incumbents (1) must be familiar with the windows computing environments and platforms (2) must possess the ability to utilize the reporting relationships and chain of command (3) must possess an understanding of the business enterprise of the organization, including an appreciation for the salient political and regulatory issues faced by its management.
Within the scope of the IST’s IT assignments, the incumbent operates within a largely diverse technical environment but within a clear accountability framework and possesses the necessary general and technical competencies for the following:
Answers customer calls and documents trouble tickets in the information technology tracking system.
Provides remote workstation support to the end users using a remote desktop support tool.
Escalates complex issues to SISA or AISA and in their absence to Senior ISA (Sup).
Follows the help desk procedures utilized in supporting the various CDCR applications.
Deploys and manage Desktops, Laptops, terminals and other computing devices and peripherals.
