Job Description:
The DMH Vacaville Psychiatric Program (VPP) is located within the California Medical Facility (CMF), Dept. of Corrections. The Program consists of a licensed 150-bed Acute Psychiatric Program, a licensed 76-bed Intermediate Care Facility, and a 44-bed Day Treatment Program. The Custodian will perform janitorial services including the following: Sweeps, scrubs, mops and waxes floors and baseboards; cleans, dusts, and polishes cabinets, furniture, lockers, and woodwork; cleans stairwells, hallways, rest rooms, offices and cells. (Cell cleaning includes removal of mattress, trash, etc. Steam cleans ceiling, walls, and floor with high-pressure equipment and spraying disinfectant and disinfecting mattress); empty and clean waste receptacles; vacuum floors; assist in moving and arranging furniture and equipment s needed; refills lavatory supply dispensers; transports clean and soiled laundry to and from the units and laundry department; operates scrubbers, butters, waxers, and other equipment and machinery; cleans Venetian blinds and light fixtures; reads, interprets and follows Material Safety Date Sheets and chemical/cleaning product directions for use and warning/precaution information. Custodians are required to work any shift and schedule in a variety of settings throughout the hospital and may be required to work overtime and float to other work locations as determined by the operational needs of the hospital. All hires are subject to budget and freeze exemption approvals.
