The DMH Vacaville Psychiatric Program (VPP) is located within the California Medical Facility (CMF), Dept. of Corrections. The Program consists of a licensed 150-bed Acute Psychiatric Program, a licensed 76-bed Intermediate Care Facility, and a 44-bed Day Treatment Program. The Custodian will perform janitorial services including the following: Sweeps, scrubs, mops and waxes floors and baseboards; cleans, dusts, and polishes cabinets, furniture, lockers, and woodwork; cleans stairwells, hallways, rest rooms, offices and cells. (Cell cleaning includes removal of mattress, trash, etc. Steam cleans ceiling, walls, and floor with high-pressure equipment and spraying disinfectant and disinfecting mattress); empty and clean waste receptacles; vacuum floors; assist in moving and arranging furniture and equipment s needed; refills lavatory supply dispensers; transports clean and soiled laundry to and from the units and laundry department; operates scrubbers, butters, waxers, and other equipment and machinery; cleans Venetian blinds and light fixtures; reads, interprets and follows Material Safety Date Sheets and chemical/cleaning product directions for use and warning/precaution information. Custodians are required to work any shift and schedule in a variety of settings throughout the hospital and may be required to work overtime and float to other work locations as determined by the operational needs of the hospital.
