Job Description & Additional Information
Duties: Under the general supervision of the Chief, the Student Assistant (SA) may travel up to 20% statewide to be used to perform undercover compliance activities on high-risk WIC vendors; participate in covert compliance investigations which include assuming fictitious identities to act in various roles necessary to conduct undercover investigations in various settings. Independently prepares on-site investigation reports for each undercover compliance buys. The SA may assist the compliance investigator by retrieving and documenting the vendor redemption data for compliance investigations and makes recommendations that assist in formulating an effective strategy for compliance investigations. Represents WIC during the administrative appeal process by testifying at hearings and explaining the activities which lead to sanctions filed against a vendor.

The SA will assist with new vendor applications as well as current vendor workload. The SA will assist with processing and evaluating new vendor applications to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, research prospective and current vendors, perform quality checks, and file/documentation management. The SA will assist with pre and post on-site inspection, routine monitoring visit and compliance buy documentation, track applications and maintain key information on the SharePoint database system, conduct data queries, generate reports, provide quality review, and collaborate with VMB staff to ensure overall contract management of a vendor's application to participate in the CA WIC Program.
