DUTIES

Under the general direction from the Director of the Educational Data Management Division (EDMD), the Education Programs Consultant serves as a technology liaison for computer based assessments within the California Department of Education (CDE), working cooperatively with EDMD Managers, Assessment Development and Administration Division (ADAD), and other Division Directors, the Deputy Superintendent of the District, School, and Innovation Branch, and Executive Office staff.

  • Assists with the formulation and implementation of strategies to carry out policies, programs, and priorities of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction (SSPI), CDE, and the State Board of Education (SBE) relating to the CDE’s implementation of technology support for computer based assessments.
  • Support the work of the Director of the EDMD in a variety of areas (e.g., policy issues; management issues; technical assistance; attendance at a variety of key meetings; federal/state audit or legislative requests to technology and ssessments, etc.).
  • Collaborate with other CDE staff in implementation projects, such as the development and approval of assessment regulations and request for submission proposals.

  • Prepare official letters and professional documents regarding various technology related assessment topics and issues.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse groups of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and on a team to ensure project deadlines are met; good organizational habits.
  • Knowledge of school district administration, education technology, and assessment program practices, and a general knowledge of other areas of LEA program and fiscal operations.
