Job Description & Additional Information

DUTIES

  • Provide technical assistance to adult education and literacy providers to promote program improvement and student success.
  • Monitor activities of adult education state and federally funded programs to facilitate compliance.
  • Consult with local educational agency administrators, program directors, adult literacy and job training providers, and teachers to develop and implement program strategies, standards, assessment, and practices regarding state and federal compliance for Adult Education programs, including 10 program areas for state-funded programs and Adult Basic Education (ABE), Adult Secondary Education, General Educational Development, English-as-a-Second Language (ESL), Vocational ESL, Vocational ABE, Family Literacy, ESL-Citizenship, Citizenship Preparation, and Civic Participation in the federally funded programs.
  • Promote educational activities that encourage employers and educational programs to coordinate literacy training for adults, particularly at the work site.
  • Conduct ongoing program evaluation and provide technical assistance activities to schools and agencies.
  • Compose adult education documents, including reports, advisories, and grant applications.
  • Analyze relevant materials, such as national reports, state reports, and legislation.
  • Develop and make presentations at regional and state meetings.
  • Research and report on current adult education issues and relevant changes relating to high school standards, accountability, and adult education throughout California and the nation.
