DUTIES

Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager I (SSM I) in the Adult Education Office (AEO) of the Coordinated Student Support and Adult Education Division, and working cooperatively with program units and supervisors throughout the Department, the Associate Governmental Program Analyst independently performs assignments that support adult education programs and staff. The AEO provides disbursement of federal funds, technical assistance, and program services to agencies, school districts, Division Directors, Administrators and non-profit entities. This position provides analytical services in support of these functions which include:

  • Prepare federal local assistance grant payments
  • Provide technical assistance to grantees in the areas of: grant application, budget, expenditure reports, data submission, audit compliance, and California accountability training options and requirements
  • Work collaboratively with staff and SSM I to prepare annual grant application and award notification request package and execute the annual funding calculation formula
  • Provide back-up support for the AEO Budget Analyst. Such duties include annual allocation of federal funds to grantees, leadership projects, and state administration. Other budget duties include review of contractor invoices for accuracy, allowance, and submission to the Accounting Office for payment

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong skills in organization, writing, and speaking
  • Experience or ability to learn Adult Education Program guidelines and requirements and advanced techniques in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Exceptional attendance, demonstrated initiative, and a willingness to accept responsibility
  • Ability to work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors
