Position Description: Under the supervision of the Staff Services Manager II, the Personnel Specialist shares in the responsibility for the daily operation of the transactions and timekeeping functions of the Personnel Office.
Duties: The Personnel Specialist will perform all transaction aspects by utilizing various automated databases for keying of monthly payroll processes, including overtime, lump sum, immediate pay, tracking and completing all salary changes. Performs all PAR documentation related to appointments, miscellaneous changes and separations. Processes open enrollment documentation for health, dental, and vision benefits. Completes and submits all personnel transactions related to Non-Disability Insurance. Reviews attendance reports, audits leave usage, and researches and resolves discrepancies in the SCO CLAS system. Prepares reports and provides information to management as requested. Acts as backup to the Senior Personnel Specialist.
Who May Apply: Eligible candidates who are current state employees with status in the above classification or lateral transfers from an equivalent class, former state employees who can reinstate into the above class or persons who are reachable on a current employment list for the classification. Candidates whose eligibility is based on a state employment list must submit a copy of their examination results, indicating their test score.
ADDITONAL INFORMATION: The Department of Financial Institutions is merging with the Department of Corporations to become the Department of Business Oversight effective July 1, 2013. This position will be located at 1515 K Street, Sacramento.
